David Rhys Jones

David Rhys Jones prints on ceramics, I found his concept akin to what I am doing in this final confirmatory project.  He considers himself an observer, he takes journeys and records them by drawing and recording using photography.

The sculptures reflect his experiences while on the journey. David has used the concept of “flaneur” from Charles Baudelaire. Charles Baudelaire was a poet and scholar who advocated the idea to be an urban observer, “flaneur” roughly meaning the act of strolling,

Inspired by the architecture David observed, he creates ceramic sculptures, these sculptural forms are then transferred with images.  A lot of close up photographic images are used.
